Glass Value-chain Maturity Score
Definition
Glass Value-chain Maturity, or GVM, is a working framework for evaluating companies exposed to the glass substrate cycle. The original lead source proposed five axes; this page adapts them into a diligence scorecard that must be backed by primary evidence before any company graduates beyond watchlist.
Five axes
- Process bottleneck control.
- Customer qualification depth.
- Capex recovery visibility.
- Order pipeline depth.
- Multi-application readiness.
First-pass scoring posture
Do not use numerical rankings yet. Evidence quality is uneven.
| Exposure | Initial read | Evidence quality | Missing proof |
|---|---|---|---|
| intel | Strong adoption signal, weak pure-play expression | Primary company roadmap | Named product/customer production timing |
| absolics skc | Direct fabricator lead | Primary company/government facility evidence | Current status, customer qualification, revenue materiality |
| lpkf | Strong process-step lead for TGV/RDL/bonding | Vendor product evidence | Orders, backlog, named customer qualification |
| schott | Material supplier validation | Vendor product evidence | Customer wins, capacity, pricing power |
| tsmc | Gatekeeper / architecture validator | Primary 3DFabric context | Official glass or CoPoS linkage |
How to use it in diligence
For any candidate, ask:
- Which process step does it control, and is that step actually scarce?
- Which customers have qualified or sampled the process?
- What capex has been deployed, and how quickly can it be recovered?
- Is there evidence of orders, backlog, or tool pull-ins?
- Does the same process serve AI accelerators, HBM4, CPO, and photonic integration?
- What does the current stock price already discount?
